I think I'm the only other white kid on this blog aside from Mulder. I know I'm still loved!

Hi. I've been absent from this whole blogging thing for a couple of years. Sorry. Rather than try to catch everybody up on the last 24 plus months with a long, chubby editorial recap of my doings, I'm going to provide more palatable chunks of information - through pictures! Here's a few to get you started. I call this theme Random. You'll see.

I met up with Adi back in September in New York. That's my Ma, my girlfriend Patience, and a friend from school.

This is my cohort from Linfield. We all finally came back from our recent travels to meet up. Good people. Forward thinkers all moving backwards. A few of us have jobs.

The Oregon Zoo at its best. I love elephants!

This is me at Smith Rock - the climbing Mecca of Oregon. This was last summer. A great climb. Too bad the rest of pics are all of my ass going straight up. No joke.

Patience and I at my cousin's wedding back in September. We were at Prospect Park in Brooklyn. A real deal wedding - straight up New York.

This is our roommate. He is actually our scarecrow. We entered him in a competition at P's work. Cash money prizes will make you get really creative.

This is me turning 24. Yes, the cheezy pose is intentional. For my birthday, P and I went out to Bagby Hot Springs, a natural hot springs that was developed by hippies back in the late '70s into a bunch of private and public hot tubs. The place was crazy. Two miles in with all sorts of folks doing whatever they want. This picture is of a public handmade tub. The water is divereted from the source and fed directly into the tub to make as hot as you want.

On a hike out in Estecadia. This was an outcropping that jutted out over the trail like 6 feet. This hike ended at an enormous waterfall 6 miles in. On the way back I found a tick in my arm - perhaps one of the nastiest things I've seen. A small bug burrowing its way into your flesh, blah. I pulled the fucker out without hesitation.

What's the good word all?  I'm home right now, nursing my mom back to health.  She is recovering from surgery and being the good son that I am, I took time off of work to help her out.  I haven't been home in quite a while.  Kind of strange.  I am currenlty working for the Forest Service in the Bend/Fort Rock district of Central Oregon.  I am working on trail reconstruction and occationally doing some fire work.  It seems there is a new fire every week in Central Oregon.  Dumb campers disregarding fire guidlines.  Its good physical work and keeps me busy.  Although, I could do without the 104 degree heat.  We are re-building a bridge right now and each day is hotter than the next.  Thank God for the river.

I decided to play basketball with my 6'7" 260 lb roommate and once again injured myself.  I don't think my ankels are made for such activity.  I'm better off to avoid contact sports and stick with what I am good at. Speed walking.  I can really throw my hips around.

My summer has been pretty much work and sleep.  Not a whole lot going on.  I'm looking forward to seeing Jack Johnson and Ben Harper in August, but other than that I pretty much stick to a very basic routine of get up at 5:30, work, come home, ride, make dinner, drink beers and go to bed. Some exciting stuff.  At least school is starting up pretty quick.  That is something to look forward too.  Once I get in the groove of school I will wish I was back in Central Oregon...

Hope all is well and wish you the best.

What's a couple three months between updates?  Here I am, almost done with my junior year.  Can't really believe that I was in Korea not too long ago.  Caleb who?  Ji what?  Anyoongahseeeyo...?  damn, things are fading quick :)  I am actually procrastinating like a mad man on this horrible, evil, terribly interesting research paper for my social theory class.  8 pages in and I need 12 more.  BLAH!  I have 2 weeks left of classes and then finals.  I will be living with my bud in central Oregon this summer, hiking, camping and getting a hell of a tan.  Remember what that is, a tan?  Yup, I'm pretty stoked.  I applied to be  bike patrol officer in a wealthy resort community and beat out 40 other applicants to be denied at the final round. Who was I kidding anyway, I couldn't be cop.  I just wanted to ride a bike all summer out in the sun and hit on all the hotties in my spandex tights and radio in to headquaters to call in a 540...yeah.  So now I am on the lookout for a job, which is like a mad dash every summer and its all competitive and I am going to end up working in a starbucks and have to be plastic and smile and serve people double tall soy vanilla lattes with extra foam with no lids...I know those kinds of people.  At least I will be living in an amazing place and will be able to do some climbing and rafting.

The weather sucks here.  Oregon likes to rain a lot, even in May when it is supposed to be in the 70's and beautiful.  We had one nice weekend and the students here acted as if they had never seen sun before.  I shit you not, everybody was outside, either running, tossing a disc, throwing a ball, reading, drinking lots of beer all becuase the sun finally came out from behind the clouds.  For a small school, seeing nearly every kid out at once is quite a feat, especially considering Linfield is as about image concious as you can get.  Silly college kids.

My job as Vice President of Programming is turning out to be a drag.  My life is one big meeting.  If its not a meeting, its preperation for a meeting and paper work.  I don't think I should be in charge of other people and I think those people who I am in charge of know this.  At least I get paid more than them.  Being on the executive cabinet is all about P.R and showing the adminstration what they want to see, not what I feel is right for the school.  Ah well, its gonna look good on my resume.

I miss being in Korea.  I miss being able to talk to real people and have good conversation about nothing.  That is lacking here for sure.  Yeah, I get real drunk from time to time and rant about something I feel needs ranting about, and then abruptly fall down, but it is not the same.  I don't hurt myself when I fall down here.  Man, I miss being able to escape into  a crowd of a thousand and go where nobody knows me or will ever see me again.  I HAVE TO GET OFF CAMPUS!  I don't like this whole experience of "flash friendship" where I meet really terrific people and then never get to see them ever again.  What the hell is all that about?  Ah-well, at least I went and did what I did.  Might do it again.  I have decided I am joining the Peace Core when I graduate and do some form of social work hopefully in Central America or perhaps Africa, if the world doesn't implode by then.  After which I may go on to grad school or just gamble and do lots of drugs.  I prefer the latter, but my conscience tells me otherwise.

I have to sleep.  Hope all is well with everybody and that finals is not bullet in the head stressful.  Congrats to all of you who are graduating!  Mike! Alice!  Anybody else.  Aim high with those degrees. Wal Mart is hiring nationwide!

Peace

Kyle
